SRK on his father
My Dad was a lawyer, a businessman and the country's youngest freedom fighter. He was my yaar, my hero. I wanted to grow up like him. I think I'm getting close...slowly. Dad was a soft spoken gentleman with a wacky sense of humour, I remember when I was young....a neighbour caught me teasing her daughter and complained to dad. You know what dad said? He said, "If your daughter is as pretty as you are I don't blame him." It's something I'd probably say ten years hence when someone comes complaining to me about Aryan. I think I have inherited dad's sense of fun. What I haven't inherited is his good looks."

SRK on his mother

My mother was not only a shrewd businessman but was also an active social worker. A magistrate who was responsible for the rehabilitation of juvenile delinquents. She fought so many battles for these boys in court and even gave them jobs at our restaurant. They rewarded her by stealing her money and cutlery and running away. But that didn't stop her from taking in the next boy.

My mother had taught me to be sensitive. She would get angry with people but she would love them at the same time. Neither she nor my father hit me. They were gentle. My mother behaved like a real friend when I told her that I wanted to marry Gauri. She did not even ask whether the girl was Muslim or Chinese. I still believe she's there somewhere and looks after me. Otherwise I would not have had all that I have. She is my STD line to God because there is nothing in this world that I want and haven't got. Whenever I'm happy I cry because I can't share my happiness with her.

SRK on his sister
" My sister Shehnaz is a lot like my dad. She certainly has his nose. And she's quiet, reserved, naive and highly educated. She has a post graduate degree as well as a degree in Law.But she's never worked in her life. Of course now she doesn't have to. But Shehnaz has always been a princess. Completely untouched by the world, a pure soul. Not the kind who would fit in today's world. Because she's so detached from everything, she suffers so much...."

SRK on Gauri
Our relationship is not based on how much we have given each other. Nor can you measure how much we have given each other. It's beyond all this, it's more spiritual. It is more than a physical love story. Gauri and I coexist, not exist for each other. If Gauri has make sacrifices or adjustment, she had not toldme. Had she told me, you cannot call it sacrifices but an obligation. I could keep harping about how much I love Gauri but we are beyond all this.

At times when she is out somewhere, I feel there's nothing without Gauri. No life, no house, no stardom, no child, no happiness, no company without Gauri. I cannot say she is my support or pillar of strength either. Aryan wouldn't be around without Gauri. I cannot explain the happiness I feel when they are around. It's wonderful and it's all because of Gauri.

SRK on Suhana
In her own quiet way, Suhana brought smiles and joy into our house even before she was born.

I stayed in my van for two days outside Breach Candy hospital to be near Gauri when she delivered our second child. I left Aryan at Juhi's house. In between I would get frantic telephone calls on my cell phone about how Aryan was scandalizing the servants and members of Juhi's family by stripping and running buck naked through the house shouting "Look at me! I'm Tarzan!" It's his favourite ploy to get attention, which he needs in a constant and undivided manner. I think he's going to grow up to be an actor.

Suhana, unlike Aryan, was quiet from the time she was born. Like all children, Aryan was a little concerned about the new entrant into his family so we tried to avert the sibling rivalry by giving him chocolates and saying they were from Suhana.

Amongst the hundreds of telephone calls I received to congratulate Gauri and myself (and to give us advice on raising children!), I particularly remember one from Anil [Kapoor]. He said, "Are you sitting on the side of God and whispering into His ears what you want? First you get success, and fame and then you get a perfect family too - a boy and a girl." I thought it was very sweet.

Initially, I was scared to pick Suhana in my arms. She was so fragile, unlike Aryan. I could toss up Aryan and play rough with him but Suhana was different, she's a lady. Very quiet and loving, but I have a feeling she'll grow up to be very naughty.

One year has passed since she was born. She can barely stand now. And Aryan is learning how to get along with his little sister. We decided to have them share the same room so that they could bond. Gauri makes them eat together too. Of course it's very difficult to get Aryan/ Superman/ Batman/ Spiderman to sit in one place long enough to eat a meal but Suhana is so well behaved. She just smiles quietly at the world. She's very loving, even towards complete strangers.

But of course, Aryan, like all children, hates having to share the spotlight. He's very proud of the fact that Suhana is not allowed to play in the garden (because she's too small and delicate). And if you come home, he'll tell you proudly how Suhana keeps crying, unlike Aryan, who's a big strong man!

So one whole year has passed since she was born. She is growing more beautiful as each day passes. She has wonderful large eyes and an adorable, sweet smile. People say her hair is like mine. People say she's as beautiful as her mother. I think she's taken after an angel.
